Merchants do not require a PIN for online payments. However, you can add your card to Apple or Google wallet and use it for payments in a physical store and for money withdrawals in an ATM. 

All the ATMs that support cards from Apple or Google wallets require a card PIN. Also, some stores require it for high-value transactions.  See here how to set up/update your PIN.
