I made a payment with my debit card, but the status is pending, what does it mean?

What does the pending status mean in a card transaction?

In a card transaction, a "pending transaction" refers to a charge that has been authorized but not yet fully processed by the merchant.

Why does this happen?

Pending transactions on your card can be related to two scenarios:

Pre-authorization: Sometimes, some establishments hold an amount on your account before authorizing the final charge.

Regular processing: Generally, the settlement of a transaction takes a few days after its initiation.

How can I stop such a transaction?

While the transaction is in pending status, the amount is no longer available for your use. This is a way for the establishment to retain your payment until they are ready to fully process the payment.

Pending transactions cannot be stopped and have a time frame of 7 to 30 days to be completed or rejected.

If the transaction settles, and you need a refund, please contact the merchant.

If the merchant does not respond and the transaction is still pending after 30 days, we can help you dispute it if it meets the criteria. Just let us know and we will assist you.
